How to Disable Bixby

Bixby assistant is a virtual assistant developed by Samsung electronics in March 2017. This product was brought as an advanced version of its earlier voice assistant program S voice. Bixby comes with four parts namely “Bixby Voice”, “Bixby Vision”, “Bixby Home”, “Bixby Routines”.

Bixby Voice can be activated by calling Bixby or long press of the Bixby button just below the volume rocker. However, after this update, there were users who wanted to know if anytime they can disable or uninstall Bixby. So the process is explained below step by step.

How to Disable Bixby

Disabling Bixby has three main steps.  We need to change the behavior of the Bixby button, turn off voice activation and remove Bixby Home screen, which comes when we swipe left from the main Home screen.

How to Disable and Uninstall Bixby on the Galaxy S8 and S10 with an older version of Bixby

Go to settings and tap the magnifying glass at the upper right

Type in Bixby and select the entry that says “App info, Bixby Voice”

Tap the Bixby settings in the upper right-hand side to get to the voice settings

Tap on “Automatic listening” and Change to “Never”

Tap on “Voice wake up” and turn off Wake with Hi, Bixby

Turn off “Use while phone locked”

Turn off “Bixby Dictation”

Tap on Bixby key and change it to Double Press to open Bixby

Turn off “Marketing Notification”

Press and hold on your Home Screen

Swipe left

Toggle off Bixby Home

How to Disable Bixby

How to Uninstall Bixby from your Samsung phone when having the latest version of Bixby

First, make sure you are running the latest version of Bixby. To find this, head to galaxy apps and then my apps

Once you know that you have the latest version, head to Bixby Home screen

Go to settings. There is a toggle to disable the Bixby and the Bixby button

Once you have done this, the Bixby will be gone for good and the button will be just like a rubber pad doing nothing

Bixby was announced as a big feature in the Samsung series of S8 and Galaxy S8+ but was a big let down. But having an already set up base for voice assistant like Google Assistant, Samsung’s Bixby couldn’t impress its users and failed drastically. Samsung still needs to fight a long battle to set up its base even after several years of its launch.
